We are on principle number 6 in our discussion of Judaic belief. How is it similar to what we consider Christian belief? If I am a Christian and I believe this stuff, is it OK? Is it OK with my fellow Christians if I was Jewish? How does God (YHWH) feel about Jews? Would being Jewish be an honor, or some sort of shame to a family? To a community? To a nation?
Maimonides’ 6th Principle of Judaism is:
I believe with complete faith that the words of the prophets are true.
Does this statement of faith honor God? Do you believe it?
Peter said it this way in what we call 2 Peter 1:21
No prophecy ever came from what a person wanted to say, but people led by the Holy Spirit spoke words from God.
I must say that for me there is no controversy here. This is a wonderful way to prove the Messiah-ship of Yeshua/Jesus to anyone (Jews and Gentiles).
As we are almost half-way through the 13 Principles of Judaism (Jewish belief), I hope you can see a pattern here. Perhaps, like Ruth, I can say,
your people shall be my people, and your God my God; Ruth 1:16
Perhaps, as prophecy states regarding the end times,
Thus says the Lord of hosts: In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue shall take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’ Zech. 8:23
Is your Messiah the one who was born a Jew? Will you seek Him if He comes back and sits on an actual throne in Jerusalem? Will you grab His tassels and receive healing? Do you seek Him now?
